Creative Arts Leader, Socially Engaged Theatre Maker and Academic

Dr Hannah Phillips is the Chief Executive and Artistic Director of Scala arts centre in Worcester. She is the Artistic Director of Mobilise arts, a socially engaged arts company which uses the arts as a tool for social change, wellbeing and to platform marginalised artists, participants and audiences. She has previously been Director of Transformation at Worcester Arts Workshop, Director / CEO of Artrix Arts Centre in Bromsgrove and Director of Young People’s Theatre at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. Hannah is a Visiting Lecturer at The University of Worcester and The University of Warwick. She was the former Deputy Director of the School of Acting at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and a Senior Lecturer at Birmingham Newman University. She is passionate about working with creative talent development in both industry and educational settings. She set up the Generation Q Collective of emerging artists at MAC in Birmingham and in Worcester. She is a Senior Fellow for the Higher Education Association and a theatre reviewer for Reviewsgate. Hannah programmes Malvern Pride, she was the former Senior Producer of Birmingham Shout Festival and the Founder and Producer for The No Outsiders Family Festival. She is a trustee for West Midlands Circus Centre and is currently on a steering group at Compton Verney focused on widening access and inclusion to their Folk Art Collection.
